Are you ready to take charge of your life?
Entrepreneurs are innovators, first movers who steadily look for new challenges in hope of discovering or creating something that makes people’s life better. They find new ways by disrespecting conventions and habits, and do not hesitate to make sacrifices to succeed.
These type of people have created one of the greatest economic ecosystems in the world: Silicon Valley. The European Entrepreneurship Foundation (EEF) now brings you the story of the Valley by showing the movie Something Ventured about how the Valley was born. Founders of Atari, Apple, Cisco, Genentech, Intel, and others share their personal ups and downs what they went through when they established their companies.
Is it impossible creating such companies in Budapest or the CEE region? There are several examples of highly successful businesses coming out of here! Here are but a few examples:
- Adam, an artist created Prezi, the zooming presentation software disrupting Microsoft’s Powerpoint. Today, they have 5 million users worldwide and are growing faster than Twitter!
- Marton built Indextools, a webanalytics company and sold it to Yahoo in 2007 for tens of millions $
- Gyula, a lawyer by profession created an online video streaming company UStream, becoming the hottest Silicon Valley company in 2010
- Ferenc, a chemist invented a hydrogenation reactor in 2007 which has become industrial standard in the pharmaceutical R&D (H-Cube)
- Gabor who was fired from his workplace, started his own chocolate factory in his kitchen and has become a regional player within a year (ChocoMe)
- Sherry, a young Pakistani came to Budapest last September to launch Kuponvilag, becoming one of the market leaders. Sherry doesn’t even speak Hungarian!
At the “Budapest Ventured” event you can meet these people personally and ask them about their “secrets”. Take charge of your life and start shaping it!
